There are lots of things we can disagree about at Christmas, but there is one thing we all agree on: food makes Christmas. No matter what your choice of menu is, be it turkey, duck, or just roasted vegetables, Christmas is a time of indulgence. It is the one time of year that we truly celebrate food as well as each other.
Christmas dinner would not be complete without the gravy, stuffing, and array of sauces we load onto our plates for added flavour and richness. Cranberry sauce has got to be the most iconic sauce that marks Christmas, so we thought we would help you on your way to spoiling yourself, but without the spoil.
We say spoil, not because you are over-treating yourself, but because the overindulgence during Chrimbo wreaks havoc on our gut health, which often leaves us feeling crappy for weeks afterward. This year, we plan to take out the sting from Christmas eating and leave you with only the sweet stuff, and the secret lies in our cranberry sauce.
That’s because our recipe includes JUVIA, which tastes a bit like honey. Including JUVIA in your sauce means that everyone gets a dose of our enzyme-rich barley extract, which aids digestion. It’s like having Santa’s little elves working overtime in your gut to make sure you can enjoy your favourite foods without the consequences.
So, you don’t have to hold back this year or fight your way into the toilet. Just sneak a little JUVIA into your regime and let the party unfold. Everyone will thank you for it, or it can be our Christmas secret.
Ingredients:
- 100g of light brown sugar or coconut sugar
- 100ml of freshly squeezed orange juice
- 250g of fresh cranberries
- 1-2 tablespoons of JUVIA
How to make Christmas cranberry sauce:
Add the sugar and fresh orange juice into a pan and gently simmer. Add the cranberries once the sugar has melted. If the cranberries are frozen, it is best to leave them to defrost to avoid adding excess water. Keep the pan on the heat until the cranberries become tender but hold their shape. This should take approximately 5 minutes.
Remove the pan from the heat and place in a serving bowl. Wait for the sauce to completely cool or refrigerate, and only then add the JUVIA (heat destroys the magic formula). Stir the sauce to ensure the JUVIA is distributed throughout the dish. And, there you have it, our secret JUVIA cranberry sauce. Happy holidays!
